To mark World Recycling Day, we want to share some of the actions we take at ADRIAN Hoteles to improve waste management and minimize our environmental impact in the surroundings we all share.

Here are some of the measures we’ve implemented to achieve this:

• Returnable packaging: We prioritize working with suppliers who collect packaging and containers after delivery.
• Responsible purchasing: We opt for bulk products, both food and cleaning supplies, to reduce unnecessary waste.
• Efficient segregation: We’ve placed color-coded bins (green for glass, yellow for light packaging, and blue for paper/cardboard) in all departments, along with technical instructions to ensure proper separation.
• Elimination of single-use plastics: We’ve replaced amenities, cups, tableware, straws, bottles, and single-use items with sustainable alternatives.

Our impact in 2024:

Jardines de Nivaria, located in Costa Adeje, has been distinguished with the prestigious “Best of the Best 2025” award, reserved for the top 1% of globally rated accommodations. This hotel ranks as the 9th best out of 379 hotels in Tenerife, the 6th out of the 17 that have received this award on the island, and the 3rd within Costa Adeje. This recognition highlights the consistent excellence and commitment to a unique experience for every guest.

Roca Nivaria GH, in Playa Paraíso, and Colón Guanahaní, also in Costa Adeje, have received the Travellers’ Choice Award 2025, granted to the top 10% of accommodations with the best ratings on Tripadvisor. Both hotels stand out for their outstanding scores: Roca Nivaria GH achieves a 4.6/5, being the highest-rated hotel in Playa Paraíso, and Colón Guanahaní achieves a 4.7/5, ranking as the 6th best hotel in Costa Adeje.

We recently participated in a session to review the nearly three-year journey of the Circular Tourism Communities (CTC) project, an initiative that has transformed how hotels manage our organic waste and connect with the local environment.

This initiative, driven by Ashotel and Asaga Canarias and aligned with principles of circular economy, has converted tons of organic waste into high-quality compost, which returns to local farms to nourish crops. Fruits, vegetables, and local products then make their way back to our kitchens, thus closing a sustainable production circle.

During the event, participating establishments—including ADRIAN Hoteles—received a badge recognizing and highlighting our active involvement in this project. It demonstrates the collective commitment of the sector to move towards a more environmentally friendly model.

Get ready for an Easter full of fun!

During this special week, we have activities for all ages. We start with our Charity Fair on April 11th, followed by plenty of activities at the Miniclub every day at 12:00 PM, such as painting Easter figures, creating bunnies, and decorating eggs.

On April 18th, the highly anticipated Egg Hunt arrives! From 4:00 to 5:30 PM, children will explore the hotel in search of hidden eggs and, in the end, they’ll take home delicious chocolate eggs!

This year, we have something new: The Challenge Bunny! An entertainer dressed as a bunny will challenge guests to fun tasks. The winners will receive 3 chocolate eggs!

There will also be sports activities such as football, basketball, and water polo for juniors, as well as yoga, air rifle shooting, and aquagym for adults. In the evening, children will enjoy a bouncy castle, and teenagers can have fun at Submarino.

Jardines de Nivaria Reduces Food Waste by 50.8% and Minimizes Its Environmental Impact

As part of International Zero Waste Day, ADRIAN Hoteles Jardines de Nivaria reaffirms its strong commitment to sustainability through an innovative waste reduction program. Thanks to the implementation of the Effiwaste system, a technological tool designed to optimize waste management, the hotel has successfully reduced buffet waste by 50.8%, saving over 3,000 kg of food in less than a year. This achievement marks a significant step in the hotel’s sustainability strategy, solidifying its position as a benchmark in responsible tourism.

A detailed waste analysis, conducted using advanced digital tools, has allowed the hotel team to identify key patterns and adjust menu planning to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. According to the hotel’s annual sustainable management report, the average waste per guest has decreased to 0.029 kg. Additionally, the months of September and October have shown the best results, reflecting the effectiveness of the implemented strategies.

The actions taken have had a significant impact on reducing the establishment’s carbon footprint. It is estimated that food waste generated 13,583 kg of CO₂ during the evaluated period. In response to these findings, the hotel has placed special emphasis on optimizing dinner service, which had the highest volume of waste. By adjusting portion sizes and improving demand planning, the surplus has been reduced without compromising the guests’ dining experience.

Following its sustainability philosophy, ADRIAN Hoteles not only works on waste reduction but also promotes various circular practices in waste management. In 2024, 56.01 tons of bio-waste were collected, resulting in 19.6 tons of compost, which translates to 470.47 tons of CO₂ emissions avoided. These initiatives aim not only to minimize the hotel’s environmental impact but also to inspire guests to adopt more sustainable habits.

The success of the waste reduction program sets a precedent in the hospitality industry and reinforces ADRIAN Hoteles’ commitment to the environment. In addition to reducing food waste, the hotel continues to implement other sustainability strategies, such as using local and seasonal products, optimizing water and energy consumption, and eliminating single-use plastics. With initiatives like this, the hotel chain continues to move towards a more conscious and environmentally friendly tourism model, further establishing itself as a leader in sustainable hospitality.
